Sample MS Bill of Sale
This Mississippi Bill of Sale for Vehicles is used when a buyer has purchased a vehicle but does not yet have the title in their name. This document authorizes the seller to transfer ownership of the motor vehicle to the buyer. A bill of sale can be applied for by visiting any DMV location. The form requires basic information about both the buyer and seller, along with details regarding what type of vehicle is being sold. Issuance of this document transfers all rights, benefits, obligations, and liabilities from the seller to the buyer once it is completed, signed by both parties in agreement, and filed with the Department of Public Safety (DPS).
The purpose of a bill of sale is to document and prove that you own a motor vehicle.

Date format should be mm/dd/yyyy if not using a complete date in month-day-year order for consistency's sake, but that is optional and up to personal preference. When filling out a bill of sale, it may help draw a line down the center, so you have one side for the buyer and one side for the seller, but again, it isn't required unless either party wishes to add something.
In this example, Jane Doe purchased a vehicle from John Doe on March 3, 2015, and did not yet have the title in her name. The bill of sale authorizes John Doe to transfer ownership of the motor vehicle to Jane Doe once it is completed, signed by both parties in agreement, and filed with the Department of Public Safety (DPS).
